Family Support

We know that families can experience challenges and have questions at all sorts of different times in their lives and we encourage adoptive families – parents, young adults and children – to come back to us to seek advice and help.

As part of the Polaris Community, Adopters for Adoption has a national programme of family support and therapy services. We are skilled in supporting families, including those with disabled children, who may be experiencing some difficulties.  As part of your matching and support plan we will talk about the support you and your child might need post-adoption and agree how you will get access to this.

We understand that the specific challenges faced by disabled children and their families should be met with unique and tailored packages of support. Our disability support services offer a range of short break options to enable families to best meet the needs of the child, whether this is through one to one care or activity groups. Our adopters can access these services and also draw upon this expertise.

We will also advise you about what is available in your local area, so that you and your family have access to the same services as all other parents.

When you are approved we’ll also pay for one year subscription to Adoption UK who are the leading charity providing support, awareness and understanding for  those parenting or supporting children who cannot live with their birth parents. They have over 11,000 members provide a strong, supportive community and the largest voice of adopters in the UK.
