A new four part series about adoption starts on Thursday 24th April on ITV1 at 9pm. With the recent launch of our own Adopters for Adoption Company there has never been a better time to talk to friends and family about taking that first step!
The introduction to the programme says:
Across the UK, thousands of children are waiting for a family of their own. This new series follows the searches of people desperate to become parents, and children who have suffered the toughest of starts in life, as they create new families through adoption.
Emotionally challenging, and with no guarantee of success, there are many myths surrounding the adoption process. Now this series sheds light on its defining moments. From when the search for a family begins, through to the day a child first meets its new parents, Wanted: A Family of My Own captures the extraordinary stories of tenacity, compassion and resilience which lie at the heart of adoption today.
Presented by Nicky Campbell, himself adopted as a baby, the series provides an intimate insight into adoption in Britain.
