Adoption Support Fund
What is an Adoption Support Fund?
The Adoption Support Fund was established to help adoptive parents obtain therapeutic services and support packages for their family when needed. The Adoption Support Fund has been available nationally since 2015.
There are a wide range of services available, including therapeutic parenting programmes, play and filial therapy, creative arts therapy, and systemic therapies such as family therapy – and many more.
If a family feels that support is needed, they have the right to request an assessment from the Local Authority, who can then submit an application for an Adoption Support Fund. The service is available to all children in adoptive care who have been referred by their local authorities in England.

Who is eligible for the Adoption Support Fund?
The Adoption Support Fund is available for children up to and including the age of 21 (or 25 with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Education Health & Care Plan) who have been adopted from local authority care in England, or adopted from Wales but living in England.
Local Authorities can submit an application for the Adoption Support Fund before the Adoption Order has been made, meaning that any support being received throughout placement can be carried through into adoption.
